Easton Leather Bound Books

High Quality Collectible Books

Books have been bound in leather since the printing press was invented.

The leather can be cowhide, pig or even kangaroo. I'm sure if you look hard enough you can get your books bound in lizard, alligator or more exotic skins.

A set of leather bound books is quite impressive. In some sets, all the bindings will match, which makes an impressive display on a book shelf. In other sets the design will vary from volume to volume.

Originally book bindings could be quite ornate with gold gilding embedded jewels. As you may imagine, the best versions of this type of bindings are quite expensive and are usually found in libraries and museums.

However, there are regular auctions of fine books at the large auction houses, as well as seller that specialize in Rare and Antiquarian Books.

Easton Press

The Easton Press is well known for its quality leather bound editions.

Featuring permanent satin ribbon page markers, thread sewn pages for strength and durability, elegant gilding, end sheets of rich moiré fabric, matching page edges, and beautiful illustrations by well-known artists, you'll find that many titles are now out of print and highly collectible.

One place where you can find an ample collection of new and out of print books published by Easton is AbeBooks.

You can find volumes from the collections of William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, JRR Tolkien, Mark Twain and more.

Easton has also published the 17 volume Book of a Thousand Nights and the Library of American Presidents.
